Giveaway Time!

Aloha, lovelies! :-)

I have been MIA since my last post a couple of weeks ago, and I do apologize. Real life has been kicking me in the butt.

I did intend to have a Black Friday Giveaway to celebrate my jump into the blogging world. Instead, I spent Black Friday with my children. We took a cruise to the other side of the island (a two hour drive) and spent the day in Kona: ice shave, cruising Ali'i Drive, lunch and then the beach before heading back home. A day well spent. A blessing, indeed.

Without further ado, I am going to be hosting my first giveaway. Yay! It's small and simple, but I did promise one so here it is. I do not have Internet access at my dad's house so I am using my daughter's laptop here at her house. I will post pics of the prizes this evening and be sure to upload them tomorrow afternoon so everyone can see what they're vying for.

The prize is ALL Island Girl products: nail polish and a bottle of their cuticle oil (lavendar scented).   It may not be a whopper of a prize, but it is something. Right? What makes this prize unique is that Island Girl polish is exclusively made for the ABC Store chain throughout Hawai'i and in Las Vegas. It's a two hour drive to get to the nearest one where I live so these polishes/oils are not easy to come by. Never fear! I'll be making another trip to Kona after the Christmas holiday to stock up, so to speak.

The giveaway will begin at midnight (in approximately 11 hours, my time!), Monday, November 26, 2012 and ends at midnight, December 16, 2012. I'm so sorry but this is only for U.S. followers. At this time, I cannot afford to ship internationally. :-( I will let you know when I can include international lovelies in a future giveaway.

Mahalo everyone, and good luck! :-)

A hui hou, e malama pono,

Concerning the "Clean Up or Die" movement

Suffice it to say, I am disappointed and saddened by such an invasion in a community that is meant to promote one thing: LOVE for nail polish and art. Love should be the operative word here, but mayhap I am in the minority thinking this way.

I became a part of this community because it was a blessing (and relief!) to know that I wasn't alone in sharing this hobby, obsession, addiction...whatever you want to call it. Hehe. I've met incredibly generous and supportive women that have made my every day better because of their humor, their care, and their sharing of manis and polish love.

I am new to this world, and I am ignorant in that I do not have a lot of time to keep up with all that is going on. I hear of these things thanks to the women I treasure as friends, and it is appalling that such an atrocious (MY opinion only) speak out against those who are not as skilled are condemned by condescending remarks disguised as "helpful tips." Seriously? Does that make it any better? I think not.

Written language does not allow for facial expressions, intonation and inflection of voice, body language to aptly communicate a person's intention and meaning. Written language can be misconstrued, misunderstood. BUT, if one takes the time to read and re-read their words carefully before hitting the "Submit"/"Post" button, there leaves little room for misinterpretation. AGAIN, MY opinion only.

A lot of opinions have already been voiced regarding this matter, and this post won't be too much longer. I only wanted to have the opportunity to voice my own thought on this.

Mahalo nui loa for listening to my rambling. :-)

Okay. How the HECK do I do this???

Alright, my pretties. Here goes. No fancy shmancy pictures or layout design. Yet. Hah! I'm having a hard enough time with posting this first blog post. Geezus. Maybe I should wait until the anesthesia and pain meds loosen up their hold on me?? Nah. I'll probably lose my nerve if I'm normal.

Anywho.

A great big mahalo to the lovelies of "Show Me Your Top Coats" group on FB. Yeah. You know who you are!!! Kara, April, Bec, Trixie, Frannie, Mirela, Erika, Amber, and the list goes on. Suffice it to say that these wonderful women are a blessing to me. It's with their encouragement, love and support that I am going to become the comic relief of the nail blogging world (even if I'm the only one in it)!

With that said, I'm going to quietly fade into a delirious sleep and hope that I won't be in so much pain when I awake. I'd love to be able to post a mani of Floam courtesy of the lovely Kara.

A hui hou a e mālama pono
(Until we meet again, take care),
Jo :-)
